Our Commitment

For years, The Whitley Printing Company has been an industry leader in environmental responsibility because it’s the right thing to do (we live here, too). In addition to being a business imperative: our customers increasingly demand “green” production processes and materials, and government regulations severely restrict environmental impact.

Partnership with FSC

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a non-profit organization devoted to the world’s forests and encouraging their responsible management. Supported by trusted environmental organizations such as Greenpeace, National Wildlife Federation, and Sierra Club, the FSC sets high standards that ensure forestry is practiced in an environmentally responsible, socially beneficial, and economically viable way.

Whitley is certified to FSC Chain of Custody Standards, which cover sourcing, quality systems, production, recordkeeping, labeling, and documentation. We are dedicated to supporting responsible forestry and environmental sustainability through our everyday practices and by offering a wide range of FSC-certified paper products. By requesting FSC-certified materials and processes, you, too, become part of the solution.

VOC-Free Workplace

Traditionally, printing ink and solvents have released low-level toxic emissions into the air. The source of these toxins is a variety of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) which were considered essential to performance.

New environmental regulations and increased consumer demand have led to the development of zero-VOC inks, varnishes, and solvents. These new products are cost-effective and work exactly like their toxic predecessors—except they’re not harmful to human and environmental health. Whitley uses only VOC-free inks.

Our New Building

Whitley’s new facility features a number of improvements that allow us to produce your projects in an environmentally sustainable way:

  • A new waste removal system that will compact cardboard and paper waste into recyclable bales.
  • All aluminum printing plates (and soda cans!) are recycled.
  • New energy-efficient ballasts and lights and motion-detecting switches.
  • Lower, insulated ceiling in the production area improves climate control and energy efficiency.
