Finishing
Getting the ink on the paper is rarely the final step—and the finishing quality often can make or break a printed piece. Finishing includes not only the feel and appearance of the paper surface, but also its final shape (e.g., displays, folding cartons and boxes, tags, labels, greeting cards, special packaging, etc.).
The Whitley Printing Company provides comprehensive, custom finishing capabilities that include:
- Full, or “Flood” Varnishing—Provides an overall glossy or dull sheen to printed sheet.
- Spot Varnishing— Add glossy or dull highlights to specific areas of the image.
- Aqueous Coating— A flood coating designed to protect against scuffing, dirt, or water.
- UV Coating— Harder, glossier, and offers more protective than aqueous coating.
- Laminating—Clear plastic coating.
- Custom Die Cutting, Scoring, Folding and Perforating
- Embossing and Debossing—Image pressed into paper or raised from the surface, either with colored or metallic stamping foil or “blind” (no foil)
